I’m a Nairobi-based product engineer working across software, data, applied AI and design. I like hard, messy problems: public signals, customer conversations, field images, documents and operational queues. I turn those into systems that are understandable to the people who use them.
From Nairobi, working across disciplines ↗How I work
Useful beats impressive on a slide.
I start with the real workflow: who needs to do what, what evidence they have, and where uncertainty remains. Then I build the smallest complete path that lets them see a useful result.
That often means moving between model experiments, data quality, API contracts, product writing and interface details. I care about the handoff as much as the implementation. The end state should be something a person can inspect, operate and trust.
My work has covered customer-experience intelligence, image-supported inspection, public-signal analysis, enterprise document flows, brand monitoring and consumer websites. The strongest examples are in the project index ↗.
Principles I return to
Show the evidence.
Signals, citations, samples and provenance should remain visible behind a conclusion.
Name the uncertainty.
Missing data and model limitations are product states, not details to hide.
Finish the workflow.
A health check or a polished mockup does not replace a usable outcome.
Care about the feel.
Typography, hierarchy and interaction shape whether complex software is usable.
Earlier chapters
The practice grew from field work, software and service.
I studied computer science at Riara University. Early roles brought me close to the places where software meets a real process: meter reading in the field, business systems in a team and community work beyond a screen.
Indra Kenya
OCR training and meter-reading work, mobile field tests, data systems and a first lesson in making models useful outside a notebook.
Applogs Company Ltd.
Business applications, Flutter invoice work and research into the market a product had to serve.
Kenya Children’s Home
Everyday operations and event design, with teamwork and practical contribution at the center.
